The first series didn't fail because all the characters were smug and vain and self-obsessed and horrible – after all, that describes everyone. Even the director Nicholas Stoller is aware of how much these characters suck. But he really doesn't understand what the big deal is. Don't let the all-star cast fool you: Netflix's "Friends From College" is a dismal non-comedy, with insufferable characters and few laughs.
